Broadcasting live from the Jobs & Skills Expo!
We'll be broadcasting live at the Australian Government Jobs and Skills Expo – Kwinana WA, on Wednesday 5 September at the Kwinana Recquatic from 10 am – 3 pm.
Background:
The Australian Government Department of Human Services in partnership with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations will be hosting another of the very successful Jobs and Skills Expos in Kwinana on Wednesday, 5 September 2012.
The Jobs and Skills Expos have been a resounding success since their introduction in October 2009. 57 Jobs and Skills Expos have been held across the country since then, connecting more than 21,000 job seekers with jobs and skills training.
Two previous Jobs and Skills Expo s held in Rockingham and Mandurah in 2010 were resounding successes, where more than 4,000 job seekers were connected with local businesses, employment service providers, private recruitment agencies and registered training organisations and hundreds of employment and skills training opportunities.
What the expos do is very simple, national, state and local businesses, employment service providers and private recruitment agencies with jobs along with registered training organisations are invited to participate. Here they can connect directly with current job seekers - all under one roof - all on one day, in a ‘jobs and skills marketplace’. The expos are geared to help people find jobs or help them get the skills needed to get a job.
Job seekers attending the Expo should bring a current resume with them, as there’s free photocopying available at the Expo.
Job seekers should also ‘dress for success’, as they could be interviewed for a job on the day.
Entry for job seekers and exhibitors is free and there’s a free sausage sizzle for everyone.
