This September, Mandurah’s streets and foreshore will come alive with artists painting in Mandurah's inaugural outdoor painting festival. Plein Air Down Under invites artists to step outside the studio and celebrate the joy of painting in the open air.
A major highlight for festival goers is watching the process of art created in the landscape, from a blank canvas to a finished painting.

Feature guest artist Warwick Fuller will be painting and demonstrating throughout the festival. Warwick is one of Australia’s foremost living landscape painters. Among his supporters are HRH the Prince of Wales and HRH the Duchess of Cornwall, for whom he recently served as Official Tour Artist for the third time. Four paintings were acquired by the Royal couple, bringing the total of their collection to fourteen.

The colourful Tiny Shops on Wheels artisans will feature on the Sunday and Monday, facilitating activities for budding young artists, making it a festival for all ages.

Mondays painting activities include the Quick Draw Two Hour Painting Competition, starting at 10am in Mandjar Square. Artists of all levels and mediums are encouraged to take part in this high energy, fun event. Following the Quick Draw event, the foyer of the Mandurah Performing Art Centre will feature artist Jos Coufreur, who will be demonstrating his vibrant and colourful techniques on a large canvas. While this is happening, an exhibition of the festival weekends paintings is being installed, ready for the 2.30 pm gala awards and the flurry of artwork purchases.
