This worldwide painting event is happening simultaneously as artists across the world participate in a weekend of plein air painting, festivities and exhibitions.
On 6, 7 and 8 September artists across the world will be stepping outside their studios to paint outdoors, or as the French would say “en plein air”. This world wide event is in its 17th year, but this is Mandurah’s first year to participate and everyone is invited to join in.
Artists of all skill levels and mediums are invited to take part in this free event. There is no registration, no cost and no rules. Artists just arrive, set up, say hello - and start painting.
Everyone brings their own materials and all ages are welcome. If you are not an artist, come and watch individual artists at work, it is fascinating watching art created in the landscape.
At Sunday’s 3pm conclusion, artists are invited to set up their easel and painting in the Smart Street Mall, outside Vivid Gallery, and be part of the Mandurah Plein Air Artists exhibition opening. The exhibitions special guest speaker is Gillian Peebles, artist and internationally accredited judge.

Gillian is one of the judges for Plein Air Down Under and will be talking about what she looks for when she judges an art competition. This is great information to have BEFORE the Plein Air Down Under painting competition.
