Electronic Music Trailblazers Daft Punk Announce Split

The dynamic duo

After 28 years, Daft Punk have gone their separate ways.

The Paris-born electronic music duo, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, were responsible for some of the most popular electronic house songs ever made.

The pair formed Daft Punk in 1993, and quickly introduced us to their unique style with their new wave of music echoing around the world.

After many Grammy wins, countless hit singles including their  2013 banger Get Lucky ft Pharrell Williams, and their collaboration with The Weeknd on Starboy and I Feel it Coming, Daft Punk have cemented themselves into the music industry as the best in the biz.

And in true Daft Punk style, they announced their split in an 8-minute video on their website, titled Epilogue, taken from their 2006 movie Electroma.

The video opens on the pair walking from opposite directions in the desert - they meet - (then ensues the longest face off ever), before the Silver Robot stops, removes his Daft Punk leather jacket and throws it at the feet of the Gold Robot.

Then, Goldy flicks on Silver's self destruct button, Silver Robot walks away and explodes, before the duos track Touch begins to play…

And then Goldy begins his solitary walk into the desert.

So, does this mean Gold Robot will continue on with the music alone?? Or can one not function without the other?

I guess time will tell.
