Hugh Jackman receives honorary Order of Australia medal

What a guy!

The Greatest Showman... Hugh Jackman has been honoured with the Order of Australia medal for his services to the performing arts and the wider community, in particular for his advocacy for poverty eradication.

The ceremony took place at Government House, with Australian Governor-General David Hurley honouring our beloved performer with the Companion of the Order, which is the highest of the four levels of the Order of Australia.

Hugh took to social media to thank the Governor General and all those who have supported him on his journey, especially his wife Deb and his children Oscar and Ava.

"On this occasion, I am reminded that I share the incredible honor with my parents, my siblings, my friends and, especially, with Deb, Oscar and Ava. There are countless teachers, coaches and mentors who have taught and inspired me along the way. I will forever be in their debt. It is humbling to be amongst so many great Australians who have outstanding achievements in so many fields. Thank you to the Governor General."

Congratulations Hugh... a very well deserved honour.
