Margot Kidder who played Lois Lane in Superman, has died, aged 69

Margot Kidder, the Canadian actress who starred as the sassy Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the Superman film franchise of the late 70’s and 80’s has died at the age of 69.

Margot passed away on Sunday, 13th of May, at her home in Livingston, Montana according to a post made by Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. 

The incredibly talented actress rose to immediate fame when she was cast in the 1978 movie, Superman as Lois Lane. She reprised the role again in Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983) and Superman IV (1987).

She also appeared in over 70 movies and TV shows, including The Amityville Horror and won an Emmy for her role in RL Stine's The Haunting Hour. 

After suffering a public breakdown in 1996, Kidder became a huge activist for mental health and spoke about her own personal demons all while helping others face theirs. 

Kidder was married and divorced three times and is survived by a daughter, Maggie McGuane.

DC Comics payed tribute to the woman who played Lois Lane.

Teri Hatcher, who played the role of Lois Lane in the 90's TV series Lois and Clarke payed homage to her mentor in a post to social media.
