What did I just watch.
Last night, Channel 10 aired Dirty Dancing - no, not the amazing 1987 movie starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey but a remake.
Oh my heart.
This movie took everything we love about the original movie and turned it into something so cheesy, so blah we had to to instantly google pictures of the original cast members to feel better.
It seemed like a 'nice' thing to do to honour the 30 year anniversary of Dirty Dancing with a remake that was, how can we put this, incredibly Disney.
And the cast? It had potential, with the star of Zombieland, Little Miss Sunshine and My Sister's Keeper, Abigail Breslin taking the role of Baby Houseman, while Colt Prattes took on the iconic role of Johnny Castle.
Deborah Messing was cast as Mumma Houseman, Modern Family's Sarah Hyland as Lisa Houseman, Nicole Scherzinger as Penny Rivera and Katy Seagal as bungalow bunny Vivian Pressman but that still wasn't enough to impress viewers.
Scoring only one star on rotten tomatoes, Boston Herald's reviewer Mark. A Perigard said it best, "Dirty Dancing is 30 years old. To celebrate, ABC has decided to stomp all over your memories of the beloved film."
All the iconic lines were there, in fact, the script was verbatim including the famous line, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!"
How about - no one should try and emulate the magic Swayze and Grey had in the original movie.
And that ending? Johnny as a Broadway choreographer, and Baby as a writer, who wrote a book about their summer romance that he turned into a musical called, 'Dirty Dancing.'
Oh God no. Make it stop.
If it aint broke. Don't fix it.
But that's just what we think - did you like the remake??
If you missed it, you can catch it on tenplay right ---> HERE
Don't say we didn't warn you.
And now - the blessed original.
