City triumph in night series final

Mandurah City are State League Night Series champions defeating Olympic Kingsway 1-0.

City's undefeated campaign was sealed with a goal from Joe O'Brien who headed home just short of the 70 minute mark following a superb cross from midfielder Alex Grayson.

Kingsway looked like they had taken the lead about 15-minutes earlier when they netted only for the referee and his assistant to disallow it for offside.

It was a tense affair throughout but Mandurah's experience shone through to create the opportunity that brought triumph.

Mandurah joint-coach Pete Taylor said believe his side was the only team that was going to win the game after time.

Fellow joint-coach Kris Donnell believed the continued push was the difference in the game.

"I thought we did really well in the first half and just couldn’t get that goal. Once we got it, I thought we defended ever so well in that last 15 minutes."

Mandurah play Stirling Macedonia in the opening round of the State League season on Easter Saturday.
