Dockers up and running

The Dockers have got one up on the Eagles to start 2021 scoring a 47-point victory in the first hit out of the season.

Skipper Nat Fyfe was brilliant in the first half before being subbed out at half time while Michael Walters booted four goals.

Jamie Cripps finished the game well for the Eagles with three goals and Liam Duggan worked hard when given midfield minutes.

In concerns for Fremantle Adam Cerra did not return after half time with an ankle injury and Luke Ryan left the ground with back pain after being landed on in a marking contest.

The Eagles were without a host of big names including Nic Naitanui, Josh Kennedy, Tim Kelly and Elliot Yeo, while Luke Shuey, Jeremy McGovern and Tom Barrass were on restricted minutes.

After the match assistant coach Jaymie Graham said the Eagles squad needed to sharpen up quickly with just one game to go before round one.

“We did talk about that. We’ve got one more game against the same opposition to really sharpen up for that round one contest Gold Coast,” he said.

“We’ve got to reflect and learn. We need to learn from this game and make some changes for next week."
