India win first Test series in Australia

Australia were saved on the final day of the SCG Test match with rain preventing any play.

Though no play was possible India win their first ever series in Australia and retain the Border Gavaskar trophy winning the series by a margin of 2-1.

Batsman Cheteswar Pujara was named man of the series after average 74 across the four matches with an honourable mention to Jaspirit Bumrah who claimed 21-wickets.

Reflecting on his side's performance Australian captain Tim Paine said it was a great experience to face the world's best bowling attack.

"There's been some doom and gloom about this group, but there is talent in the team and some that are not playing at the moment," Paine said.

"It is great for [the new players] to get experience to play against probably the best bowling attack in the world."

"We have another series with Sri Lanka coming up [and] any games they can play at international level is a positive for them."

Australia will now play a three match ODI series against India beginning in Sydney on Friday.
