Lyon "probably doesn't agree" with sacking

Outgoing Dockers coach Ross Lyon says he "doesn't probably agree with the decision (to sack him) but he respects it."

Lyon was let go by Fremantle with 12-months left on his contract and assistant David Hale set to coach the last match this season.

"They're a really good group, some special players. I wish them all the best." Lyon said.

"They're a big strong club, a powerful club and the flags will come."

Speculation was rife in recent weeks that Lyon was set to walkout on the Dockers but Lyon denied that it was the case.

"My whole time I've been unconditionally supported and given every resource so I certainly want to thank the club for that. The Dockers will always hold a special place in my heart."

Bookies have installed current Collingwood assistant coach Justin Longmuir as favourite to take on the role.
