Maroons claim triumph

Queensland have clinched the State of Origin series defeating New South Wales 20-14 in the third and deciding game.

It's the first time since 2017 that the Maroons have lifted the trophy and this year against the odds after being labelled the worst Queensland team to take the State of Origin field.

First half tries from Valentine Holmes and Edrick Lee setup the victory for Queensland giving them a first half lead.

Harry Grant scored a tried to put the Maroons further in front before the Blues mounted a comeback.

Daniel Tupou crossed the line and Nathan Cleary converted but it wasn't enough to help New South Wales record a crazy come back.

Cameron Munster was named man of the series.
