The NRL have ordered an urgent report to be conducted on the surface ahead of their State of Origin clash.
Concerns raised by West Coast, Fremantle and now calls from the AFL Players Association to soften the surface.
NRL head of football Graham Annesley confirmed the NRL had asked for the stadium's turf management plan ahead of the match next Sunday.
“We will assess it and then make a decision about what needs to happen. We’ve asked for hardness measures, grass lengths, everything." Annesley said.
“It’s obviously a concern and we might have to send our own experts over later this week.”
Optus Stadium CEO Mike McKenna said he has no concerns about the surface.
