Wild Oats XI has retained its Sydney to Hobart line honours after a protest against the super maxi was deemed invalid.
The protest was lodged by the Sydney to Hobart committee after it was claimed by the owner/skipper of Black Jack Peter Harburg that Wild Oats XI automatic identification system was not transmitting for the entire race.
Each boats AIS must transmit for the entire race to allow other boats to see where each other are at all times and it disadvantaged the crew of Black Jack and third place Comanche.
The five-man international jury ruled the protest was invalid as it was not lodged by a competing member.
