Wildcats go down in Sydney

The Sydney Kings have defeated the Perth Wildcats 77-72 in the first encounter between the two teams this season.

Thursday night's clash went right down to the last couple of minutes as the Wildcats peppered from the three-point arc.

None of the four attempts went down and the Kings held on for victory.

Nick Kay and Terrico White top scored for the Cats with 17-points and Clint Stendl contributed with 16-points.

Kay said the team needed to step up when key players were missing.

"We fought all game, but we shouldn't get in that position ourselves, we didn't play Wildcats Basketball tonight and that showed on the scoreboard," Kay said.

Perth return home to take on Cairns on Sunday.

The Wildcats will be hoping MVP Bryce Cotton returns having missed the last two games with a thumb injury.
