This year during DonateLife Week. Australians are being encouraged to spend just one minute registering as an organ and tissue donor and, just as importantly, having a conversation with their family about their decision.
More Information (97.3 Coast FM is not responsible for external websites)
Last year, 557 deceased organ donors across Australia provided close to 1,500 life-saving organ transplants. On the flipside, 2,000 Australians still remain on organ transplant waiting lists, while thousands more are living with serious illness, hoping that a suitable donor becomes available.
80% of us support organ donation. But only on-third of us are registered as donors.
DonateLife Week is a national public awareness week to encourage more Australians to support organ and tissue donation. This DonateLife Week, we want more Australians to take 2 simple steps: (1) register as an organ and tissue donor at donatelife.gov.au or through Medicare; and (2) talk to their family about organ and tissue donation. For more information, contact DonateLife Media on 0403 058 662.
