Community Event: Mandurah Walks for Research

A Mandurah community group called Two Girls and a Grandad is inviting locals to take part in Mandurah Walks for Research, a relaxed community walk and run supporting the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

The event will take place on Sunday 12 April, with participants able to choose between 3km or 5km distances. Everyone is welcome, no matter their fitness level — people can walk, run or shuffle their way along the course. Entry is a gold coin donation, with all funds going toward medical research.

The event is part of the group’s fundraising journey toward the Sydney Marathon on August 30, where they are aiming to raise funds for the Perkins Institute. So far, thanks to strong community support, they have already raised over $10,000.

As part of the challenge, the group is also aiming to collectively cover the 3,300km distance from Perth to Sydney with help from the community. Every kilometre completed at the event will contribute to the total, which will be tracked on their social media in the lead-up to the marathon.

The organisers say the event is about bringing the Mandurah community together to support an important cause and encourage people of all ages and abilities to get involved.
