Community members of all ages looking to boost their career prospects will have the chance to engage with more than 40 stallholders at the Rockingham Jobs Fair on Wednesday June 23 at the Gary Holland Community Centre.

Running from 9am – 3pm, the Rockingham Jobs Fair will be hosted by the City of Rockingham and will feature local businesses, industry and defence stakeholders, training organisations and employment providers.

The free event is open to everyone from school leavers, to those who are looking to change their career or re-enter the workforce.

The Rockingham Jobs Fair will showcase opportunities across job sectors including defence, building and construction, mining, healthcare, transport/logistics and education.

Training and upskilling providers will also be in attendance showcasing opportunities for personal development.

A live jobs board highlighting 120 local job opportunities will be a feature of the event, as will workshops and demonstrations from training providers and employers seeking to recruit new apprentices and employees.

The workshops will focus on resume construction, social media, local and FIFO job opportunities, start-up business help, and jobs and probation survival.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the delivery of the Rockingham Jobs Fair was a strategic objective outlined in the City’s Economic Development Strategy 2020 – 2025.

“The City of Rockingham is focused on continuing to support the growth and development of local businesses and industries, and central to this is the enhancement of employment prospects for local residents,” Mayor Sammels said.

“The Rockingham Jobs Fair will provide an excellent opportunity for people to see what employment is available in the local area, with jobs and training prospects across the Rockingham region set to be showcased.

“Whether you are a young person looking for your first job after high school, an experienced professional looking at a career change, or you returning to the workforce after an extended hiatus, the Rockingham Jobs Fair will provide value to all job seekers.”
