The first step in the redevelopment of Falcon Bay has started with the seawall getting a much needed update.
The $700,000 works to the seawall at Falcon Bay have begun, but the City says their aim is to minimise disruption to the community and surrounding businesses.
Acting CEO Tony Free says the construction will stop so the beach can be open over Christmas and the January holidays.
"We understand that this is a popular beach foreshore and with the warmer weather upon us we’ll be doing everything we can to try and keep the disruption to a minimum," he said.

Concrete and excavation works are currently underway. During works beach access is available to the east of the toilet block.
Pedestrians will be able to access most areas along the foreshore during construction, including access along the length of the foreshore.
Works will recommence in February with the seawall reconstruction anticipated to be complete by early March.
