Annual youth beach party returns to Rockingham

People aged between 12 and 18 are being encouraged to descend on Rockingham Beach foreshore on Tuesday, January 16 to take part in a range of activities and listen to free live music.

Feel good vibes will be at large during next week's Youth Beach Party.

Local rap musician Marksman Lloyd will treat the audience to a performance while DJ Jeremy Tucker will be spinning tunes.

The Headspace Rockingham Youth Reference Group will be in attendance with glitter face-painting while the Don’t Drink and Drown crew will be running beach volleyball competitions, with both courts in action.

The event kicks off at 2:00pm and will feature free slushies and a sausage sizzle too.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the City was delighted at the attendance at the inaugural Youth Beach Party last year and couldn't wait to offer a bigger and better event next week.

“The Youth Beach Party is one of the City’s most popular annual events for young people."

"It is a great opportunity for our younger residents to connect, relax and enjoy a day just for them," he said.

The City expects up to 1,500 people to attend this year's event, up from the 1,000 in 2017.

In addition to the entertainment there will also be bean bags, free waterslides and security present at the event, plus first aid.

Another service provided at the event will be mental health first aid and youth workers to support young attendees.

The City of Rockingham Youth Beach Party is part of the City’s Summer Series of alcohol-free events.

Young people will be required to have their bags checked on arrival and will pick up a wristband from City staff to join in.
