If you've done some online shopping for Christmas there's a good chance your parcels will arrive today.
Today will be the biggest parcel delivery day in the country’s history with Australia Post delivering over 2.5 million parcels through its network as Christmas Day draws closer.
Since early October, Australia Post has experienced unprecedented parcel volumes as consumers take advantage of pre-Christmas sales.
Australia Post Group Chief Operating Officer Bob Black said record parcel volumes are being processed through major sorting facilities across the country, with more people than ever before opting to have their Christmas gifts delivered to the door.
“Australians are shopping online more than ever, with an unprecedented growth rate of 15% in the first half of 2017. Online shopping festivals like Click Frenzy and Black Friday have also proven to be extremely popular this year and we expect to be busy right up until Christmas," Mr Black said.
This year homewares and appliances, toys and games and fashion are the most commonly purchased products online.
Mr Black said posties are working hard to get everyone's presents delivered ahead of December 25.
Australia Post are also offering flexibility with weekend parcel deliveries and keeping Post Offices open longer.
Customers are urged to lodge their parcels as soon as possible for delivery before Christmas.
