Baldivis has recorded the highest number of personal bankruptcies nationwide.
A report from data registry and analytics business, illion, has revealed the suburb had 105 personal bankruptcies in the 2017-18 financial year, more than any suburb in Australia.
Illion Economic Adviser Stephen Koukoulas said the high number of bankruptcies in Baldivis reflects a period of weakness in the local economy.
"The WA economy has been under a lot of pressure with the decline in mining over the last few years, but we are also seeing that the fall in house prices has been quite severe," he said.
"There has also been a lift in credit pressures for those with mortgages and the like as house prices are falling and we also know that wages growth is very low.
"The fact that two (households) a week are falling into bankruptcy is a concern."
Pakenham in Victoria was second on the list with 96 households declaring bankruptcy, followed by Upper Coomera in Queensland with 88.
The analysis shows people declaring bankruptcy are getting younger, with an average age of 40.9 years in 2017 compared to 46.7 years in 2013.
Men (57.4%) are also more likely than women (42.6%) to go bankrupt.
