Bikies targeted in 23 raids across Perth, South West

The Gang Crime Squad have raided 23 properties across Perth and the South West, including in Port Kennedy and Baldivis, as part of a week-of-action targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Operation Disruption took place between December 9 and 16 in a bid to disrupt, supress and contain bikie activity moving into the Christmas and New Year period.

One kilogram of meth, four kilograms of cannabis, two firearms and assorted parts and around $153,000 in cash was seized during the operation.

Detectives charged 25 people with 94 offences.

This included a senior Rebels member, a 47-year-old man from Australind.

Commander of State Crime Gordon Fairman said the week-of-action will remind OMCG members that their actions will not go unchecked.

“Most families this time of year, seek to relax during the festive season. This will not be the case for members of society who wish to align themselves with outlaw motorcycle gangs. On any day, at any time, they can expect a knock on their door from a member of the WA Police Force,” he said.

“If left unchecked, outlaw motorcycle gangs would pose a greater threat to the community – they would expand their criminal networks, and expand their criminal activity. We will not allow this to occur.

“These are not groups of harmless motorcycle enthusiasts. They are dangerous, and they cause significant risk to the community on a daily basis.

"The safety of our community is paramount, and we will continue to disrupt the criminal activity being conducted by OMCGs in Western Australia."
