A prisoner has been airlifted to hospital after an assault at Bunbury Regional Prison.
The 40-year-old man was involved in an altercation with another prisoner around 9am on Sunday.
He suffered serious injuries and was conveyed to Bunbury Hospital before being airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
A 38-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries.
