Bushfire burns in Kings Park

Crews are on the scene while roads have been blocked off and the park closed.

The fire was reported at 12:54am on 30 January and currently there has been 4 hectares burnt.

The cause of the fire is suspicious.

A bushfire advice has been issued for people bounded by Thomas Street, Aberdare Road, Nicholson Road, Railway Road and Railway Parade in Shenton Park and Subiaco in the City of Subiaco.

Kings Park is closed to the public including motorists and cyclists.

The Department of Fire and Emergency services said to avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site.
 
A number of roads have been closed including:
  • Thomas Street closed (both directions) Rokeby Road to Kings Park Road
  • Kings Park Road left lane closed (westbound) Fraser Ave to Thomas Street
  • Fraser Avenue closed (both directions) at Kings Park Road
  • Forrest Drive / Park Avenue intersection closed
  • Park Avenue / Pool Avenue intersection closed
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

DFES is managing the fire.

Bushfires are also burning in Gidgegannup in the City of Swan and parts of Augusta, Deepdene and Hamelin Bay in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.
