Police are reminding business owners to be vigilant when using their EFTPOS machines as a result of a recent spate of fraudulent transactions.
Authorities said a number of retail stores throughout the Metropolitan area and regional districts close to Perth have fallen victim to cardless fraud scams.
It's been reported to police that a person will purchase a number of items from the store and manually enter the credit card details without necessarily having the actual credit card with them.
Police suggest that businesses check the merchant copy of their receipt, in particular, for letter codes “M” “K” and “H” which show a manual transaction has occurred.
If you are unsure of the letter codes or have concerns about current transactions, please contact your financial institution in the first instance.
