Charge upgraded over samurai sword attack on Rockingham police

A man accused of attacking a Rockingham police officer with a samurai sword is now facing the more serious charge of attempt to unlawfully kill.

Milos Radovic is accused of attacking a Rockingham police officer with a samurai sword on July 19 when police were called to a family violence incident at a house in Parkin Street.

The 55 year old Senior Constable received a deep wound to his head and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

The father-of-four suffered a fractured skull and needed 25 stitches.

A 45-year-old Beeliar man who is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on Wednesday will have one charge upgraded from intent to maim by unlawful wounding to the more serious charge of attempt to unlawfully kill.
