The City of Kwinana is gearing up for the festive season with a line up of family-friendly events.

The annual Light Up the Square event was held on Friday, December 2 in Chisham Square.

Now in its fifth year, Light Up the Square featured live performances, carols, children's activities, and the fan-favourite lighting of the Christmas tree.

Still to come is the much anticipated Christmas Lolly Run happening between December 17 and December 23.

The Lolly Run will see four trucks and over 50 volunteers travel the streets of Kwinana and hand out more than 25,000 lolly bags to local children.

Due to freight and supply problems across Australia, the City of Kwinana faced issues securing the lolly supply for the 2022 Lolly Run.

Luckily, BGC saved the day by couriering the City's lolly supply across the country, ensuring the Kwinana community can enjoy this long-running Christmas tradition.

Mayor Carol Adams said the City was lucky to enjoy these wonderful Christmas traditions.

"The Christmas spirit is alive and well in the City of Kwinana and thanks to continuous support by local volunteers and event sponsor Kwinana Industries Council, the City of Kwinana Lolly Run will again see lollies given to local children for Christmas, as has been done in the City for more than 65 years," Mayor Adams said.

"BGC have really demonstrated what the Christmas spirit is all about by generously giving something wonderful back to the people of Kwinana."
