An air search is currently underway for a missing group of five, including a child, who are believed to be travelling 500km out of Kalgoorlie.
The group are believed to be travelling in a green Hyundai Excel sedan from Kalgoorlie to the Tjuntjunjara Aboriginal Community, 500km east of Kalgoorlie.
It is believed the group missing are two men and two women and an eight-year-old boy.
Heavy rainfall in the last week could have bogged their vehicle.
Roads in the area have been closed due to flooding and hazardous conditions. The people missing are confirmed to be 41-year-old Rex Mitchell, 43-year-old Janice Stevens, 24-year-old Bruce Stevens, 46-year-old Shonna Jamieson and the male child.
Authorities believe the group left Kalgoorlie sometime on Tuesday January 30.
There are concerns for the groups welfare as it is unknown if they have food or water.
A search plane departed Kalgoorlie this morning with a Department of Fire and Emergency Services observer on board to travel to the area and search.
Police have notified surrounding pastoral stations.
At this stage there is no land based search due to the inclement weather in the area.
