Brandi Burnett is one of eight West Australian's to win gold in the 2018 WorldSkills Australia National Championships.
The 17-year-old Pinjarra Senior High School student has been awarded a gold medal in the Vocational Education and Training in Schools Food & Beverage category during the three day championship event in Sydney.
Last month it was announced Brandi was on her way to the competition, along with a number of other hopeful young West Australians.
Western Australia also won the VETiS Shield, which recognises the best performing state or territory for VETiS competitors.
The competition saw 150 medals on offer across 50 trades and skills, ranging from carpentry, fashion and jewellery design through to skills of the future including cloud computing and 3D game design.

Held every two years, the National Championships are open to apprentices, trainees and other vocational students aged 16-24.
There were 50 competitors from WA with 21 taking home medals, eight of which were gold.
WorldSkills Australia CEO Brett Judd said he was pleased with the results and hard work of all competitors.
“The Skills Show attracted over 1000 competitors and competition officials along with tens of thousands of local, interstate and international visitors, including a delegation from Russia," he said.
“It created life-changing opportunities for the competitors, and was a celebration of the strengths of Australia’s vocational training system."
