The $4.9 million dollar Golden Bay Sporting Pavilion has been completed after nearly 18 months of construction.
The works included an extension of the existing community centre facility to include an additional two changing rooms, umpire's room, IT room, first aid room and additional storage.
As well as the construction of the new pavilion which incorporates a new club room, kitchen, office, toilets, universal access toilet and adult change table.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the facility is intended to meet current and future needs of the growing Golden Bay population.
“The contemporary and functional design of the new facility, offers a number of uses for the sporting community and will provide the desired hub for sports and activities the area has needed for some time.
“The overall vision for Rhonda Scarrott Reserve is to develop the area into a significant sporting and community asset, which adequately supports the needs of the growing Golden Bay and Singleton communities, and reflects its current and intended future use.”

The project was made possible with the support of the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries through the Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) which contributed $346,605.
The SHDSA also directly contributed more than $90,000 towards the facility to establish a commercial kitchen and bar servery space.
The CSRFF aims to increase participation in sport and recreation with an emphasis on physical activity through rational development of good quality, well designed and well utilised facilities.
The pavilion is available for the community to hire through the Secret Harbour Dockers Sporting Association.
