Many of us will be left without of favourite cosmetics once Avon stops delivering the goods, but for these two local women something more will be gone.
As news broke last week of Avon shutting up shop in Australia and New Zealand, the almost 21,000 brand reps were left without jobs.
Alison McEwan from Ravenswood worked with Avon as a brand representative for three and a half years before news broke.
Like many people who conducted their own Avon route, Alison said the work was fun and benefited many of her clients.
Ms McEwan said she was left speechless when she received the following email from the cosmetics company.

Ms McEwan said the shock exit from the Australian market would not only have a financial strain on her, but a social one too.
"For me this means loss of employment, extra income and it was something I can do for myself, I'm quite shy so being an Avon rep has helped with that," she said.
"It also means that customers lose a valuable service.
"Some of my customers don't or can't get out a lot. It wasn't just about the money it was about friendship with customers as well as other reps."
Nicole Ryan is another local Avon rep, when she received the same email last Thursday the news not only affected her, but also her mum.
Ms Ryan's grew up around Avon, her Mum was and still is an Avon rep.
For Nicole, who lives in and services the Cooloongup area, her Avon route was not a fulltime job but a hobby.
For many women Avon had served as an ease back into the work force, especially those who had recently had children, I know my mother took up an Avon route when I was a kid.
Ms Ryan had been working with Avon for the last 18 months and said the news spelt out a less drastic future for her.
"As it was just a hobby it isn't a big deal, [I'll] just continue life as normal," she said.
"I'll have more time to myself instead of running around delivering Avon."
A change.org petition has recently surfaced in a bid to continue Avon operations in Australia.

Avon workers from around the country have signed on to keep the company going, some sharing their experiences and reflecting upon their careers in the petitions comment section.
The petition already has 907 of its end goal for 1000 signatures.
