Greenfields based inventors of The Segnut are set for the international market, thanks to $519,245 from the federal government.
Segnut Pty Ltd are making it easier and faster to tighten and remove studs and bolts, doing away with hot work permits.
Canning MP Andrew Hastie joined CEO Tom Baskovich and designer Brian Bradshaw at their workshop to congratulate them on the achievement.
“An innovative product like this is further evidence of the good things coming out of the Peel region,”
“Segnut’s design is significantly safer for workers doing heavy industrial maintenance as it eliminates the need for oxy-cutting and other dangerous equipment.
The increased efficiency it offers to maintenance will also mean significant savings for business.” Mr Hastie said.
The team have developed a faster, safer fastening system with the nut design consisting of an inner section with three segments, held captive by an outer sleeve.
When the outer sleeve is turned in the tightening direction, the Segnut releases from the bolt and falls away.
Segnut is one of only eleven businesses to be offered funding from Assistant Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science Craig Laundy under the Accelerating Commercialisation element of the Australian Government’s Entrepreneurs’ Programme.
Just last year Segnut was names as a finalist in the Emerging Innovation Category at the 2016 WA Innovator of the Year program.
