Junior competition drag racing at Perth Motorplex in Kwinana has been suspended following the death of 8-year-old Anita Board.
The junior driver suffered fatal injuries after an accident that occurred during a licencing pass at Perth Motorplex on Saturday.
Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray said the McGowan Government is deeply saddened by this tragic accident.
"Our thoughts go out to Anita's family and friends and we ask that the family's privacy is respected during this very difficult time."
Junior competition drag racing which includes ages eight to 16 will be suspended at Perth Motorplex pending the outcome of a police investigation.
The State Government will wait until the details of the accident are clear before taking any further action.
