Passengers were told to brace for a crash landing as a flight scheduled for Kuala Lumpur was forced to divert to the Northern Territory.
On Thursday afternoon Malaysia Airlines flight MH122 took off from Sydney and headed towards Kuala Lumpur with 224 passengers on board to airbus.
Somewhere just over the West Australian border the plane reportedly ran into some technical trouble forcing the pilot to shut down one of the aircraft's engines.
The A330-300 was forced to divert for an emergency landing in Alice Springs and passengers were told to brace for a crash landing.
Reports say passengers became alarmed when they heard loud noises from the aircraft and it began to shake.
After landing in Alice Springs passengers were told to expect an overnight stay before rescheduled flights could be arranged today.
