A 20-year-old man has been charged after police allegedly found him in possession of 10kgs of methylamphetamine in Stake Hill.
Detectives from the Transnational and Serious Organised Crime Squad (TSOC) allegedly observed the man, carrying a duffel bag, leaving a hotel on Hay Street on June 24 before entering a vehicle.
The man then travelled to Stake Hill before exiting the vehicle.
He was then approached by detectives who allegedly searched the duffel bag, locating about 10kgs of methylamphetamine.
Later that night, detectives allegedly observed a 22-year-old man, carrying a backpack, leaving a hotel on Wellington Street.
Officers stopped the man and searched the backpack which allegedly contained about one kilogram of methylamphetamine.
A search warrant was then carried out at the man's hotel room where they allegedly found a firearm, just under nine kilograms of meth, about 1.5kgs of cocaine and more than $330,000 in cash.
A 20-year-old man has been charged with possessing a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine.
He is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on August 25.
A 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possessing a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine, one count of possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply and one count of received, possessed, concealed, disposed of or dealt with any money or other property that is the proceeds of crime.
He is next due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on August 22.
“We are pleased that more than 20 kilograms of prohibited drugs have been taken off our streets and out of the hands of criminals in our community," WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said.
“The transportation and distribution of cash and drugs across our national borders continues to be of a high focus for WA Police, and we will continue to actively disrupt and prevent their activities.
“This arrest is an example of the efforts we take to target organised crime and drug trafficking. The success of this arrest should serve as a reminder to anyone involved in illicit drug and organised crime activity, that we will find you and we will bring you to justice.”
