Mandurah community stalwart Reginald Lambert is a Local Hero Nominee for the 2018 WA Australian of the Year Awards.
The nominees for the 2018 Western Australian of the Year awards were announced on Thursday morning.
Reginald Lambert who has helped others for most of his 93 years is one of four Local Hero Nominees in WA.
For the last 25 years, Reg has been a night carer for people sleeping rough in the Peel region and still conducts weekly patrols.
He’s been a catalyst for change across his entire community but much of Reginald Lambert’s work has gone under the radar.
Reg and his wife, who passed away last year, fostered 30 children, as well as having five of their own.
As the founder of Peel Connect, Reg established a group of volunteers to coordinate the work of charities, crisis centres, foster care, youth and family agencies, and more.
A founding member of Christian Men of Peel, Reg has even anonymously donated a kidney.
Reg continues to offer guidance, assistance and friendship to others, whether that's someone struggling to put a roof over their head, tackling addiction, or grappling with grief.
Award recipients will be announced on November 22 at Government House in Perth.
