Mandurah is shining the light on mental health with several community events scheduled for Mental Health Week.

Mental Health Week is a national week celebrated each year in October to highlight mental health and promote strategies to keep people mentally healthy.

This year, Mental Health Week in WA will be held between October 8 and 15 with the theme ‘Where we live. How we live. What we’ve lived.’

As part of Mental Health Week, the City of Mandurah has lined up several community events aimed at raising awareness of mental health and improving overall wellbeing.

The first event of the lineup is Peel Wellness Wednesday taking place on October 5 on the Eastern Foreshore.

The event will feature over 50 local services providing information, resources and merchandise.

The City’s Youth Library and Community Development team will then be at Lakeland's Shopping Centre on Saturday October 8 for a festival of positivity.

The Spring Into Life event will have markets, free activities, volleyball, live music and crafts.

The City has also developed a Mental Health and Wellbeing Guide in the lead-up to Mental Health Week.

The guide is designed to connect the community with services that encourage and improve mental health and well-being.
