Mandurah Primary School will build a new interactive community garden after winning the top prize of Mandurah Forum’s Growing Together initiative.

Over the past five weeks the local Peel community has lodged more than 30,000 votes for their favourite school by placing the token they received for every $10 spent at Mandurah Forum in one of the school donation boxes.

Centre Manager Jacqueline McKenzie presented the $10,000 winner’s cheque to Mandurah Primary School who won after receiving the most votes per student.

Mandurah Primary School will spend their prize building a new interactive community garden.

Principal Natasha Upcott said the school will develop a brand new sustainable garden inviting our students and the wider local community to participate in growing, caring and developing the garden year round

“We’re beyond excited to win this year’s ‘Growing Together’ grand prize, and can’t thank the people who voted for us enough.

"Every vote has truly made a massive difference to our school and to our students.”

Centre Manager, Jacqueline McKenzie said she was thrilled to see the local community embrace this year’s expanded campaign with a record 11 local schools involved.

“Throughout this year’s ‘Growing Together Initiative’ we were flooded with entries and it was exciting to see how passionate our shoppers are about helping our local students and schools,” Ms McKenzie said.

“Our local community is at the forefront of our Mandurah Forum redevelopment, and ‘Growing Together’ is all about giving back to our local community."

Two other schools were winners too, taking home a combined $3,000 to support their environmental studies and community health and wellbeing area projects.
