Murdoch University chiropractic students will offer their services for free weekly.
In a win-win situation members of the Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre will have access to free chiropractic services from final year Murdoch University students wanting to gain practical experience.
Every Wednesday morning students will provide a consultation, free of charge, to around 20 seniors at the seniors and community centre.
Centre coordinator Lisa Gardiner said the program benefits both parties.
“It’s been great having the students here, they have helped fix pain in my hip,” said Halls Head resident Karen.
“We are very lucky to have them here and we appreciate it."
Murdoch University Supervising Clinician Dominque Losco said the group were a perfect sample demographic.
“We wanted an older demographic with a variety of conditions," she said.
“It is also important that our students learn to communicate with people who are a bit older."
There are now plans to extent the program to two days a week, launching around late November.
Mandurah CEO Mark Newman said the Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre was a good example of how the City provides services to everyone in the community.
“The Seniors Community Centre has been a fantastic success, it now has over 2000 members making it one of the biggest in the state,” he said.
“Services that members can access include cut price meals, sporting events, hairdressing, library services and much much more."
