A Meadow Springs couple who have transformed their home into a Christmas wonderland have won the People's Choice Award for best lights display in the 2021 Synergy Xmas Lights Trail.

Mary and Alan Kartesz-Wardroper's display received over 800 votes to take out the top prize out of 300 entrants across Perth.

Their home, at 8 Meadow Springs Drive, features around 500 Christmas trees inside and out, hundreds of lights and festive displays.

Every room in the home, including the bathroom and toilet, are decorated with Christmas themed trinkets from around the world.

It takes the couple, with the help of volunteers, around four months to decorate their home and two months to pack it all away.

Mary said they do it for the kids’ enjoyment and to raise money for a good cause, the K9 Rescue Group, who help dogs, like Peri and Roxy, the Kartesz-Wardroper’s adored pooches, find their forever homes.

“Christmas is the most special time of the year and we believe it is the ideal time to give and to share," she said.

"It gives us so much pleasure bringing smiles to all faces from young to old. The laughter and feedback we get from our visitors more than compensates for the time and effort put into the display."

The Christmas house is open to the public every day between December 3 and January 8 from 7pm to 9.30pm.
