Mandurah police are investigating an incident in Meelon where two men took $4,000 worth of copper cabling and returned to the same farming property to steal a large crane after their vehicle became bogged in deep mud.
The stealing and trespass incident happened at about 3am on July 11 when two men drove a white coloured Toyota Landcrusier onto a farming property on Napier Road.
Police said the men hooked up a trailer and loaded it with approximately $4,000 worth of copper cabling before leaving the property along a nearby railway line where they became bogged in deep mud.
The men returned on foot to the same property and stole a large crane, driving it back to where the vehicle was bogged.
They attempted to use the crane to remove the vehicle from the mud, but the crane then became bogged.
The men removed the registration plates from the vehicle and left the scene.
Police have released an image of Scott John Maclean, who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation into this incident.
He is described as light skinned, 40 years of age, medium build, approximately 185cm tall, brown hair and blue eyes.
