Federal funding has been secured to ease more congestion on the roads.
Member for Canning Andrew Hastie has announced more federal funding has been secured to widen roads where peak hour congestion hits Canning commuters the hardest.
Western Australia has been awarded $189.6 million dollars to construct a bridge over the Kwinana Freeway, connecting motorists between Armadale Road and North Lake Road in Cockburn.
“This intersection has become a severe bottleneck in recent years, choking growth and restraining productivity," Mr Hastie said.
"Almost everyone who has driven north from Mandurah to Perth has experienced the bottleneck congestion near Cockburn.
"Many constituents have raised this issue with me, and now the government is responding."
The announcement comes just a week after a project to widen the freeway from Russell Road to Roe Highway was confirmed.

The Freeway will be upgraded from two to three lanes, and provide for an additional 1,800 vehicles per hour on the Kwinana Freeway.
Federal Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities Paul Fletcher noted the projects would lead to shorter, more predictable journey times.
“These vital projects will help transform Perth’s south, making it easier for locals to get where they need to go sooner and safer – whether they’re travelling to work, or home, or to pick up the kids up from school," he said.
Back in 2015 the Canning MP secured $116 million to widen Armadale Road between Anstey Road and Tapper Road, with the project expected to be completed by next year.
Mr Hastie said the announcements build on the federal government’s commitment of $824 million in April to extend the Tonkin Highway, build Lakelands Train Station and give Byford locals access to rail.
“These announcements are further evidence of the Coalition’s commitment to regional communities, and will be welcome news for residents across the electorate.”
