The number of bank repossessions in the Mandurah region has jumped over the last year as more and more homeowners struggle to meet their mortgage repayments.
Record numbers of WA homes are being seized by the banks with Supreme Court documents showing banks moved to seize more than 1200 homes in the year to the end of September.
That's the highest level since the end of the Global Financial Crisis.
Director of LMW Valuers Rod Davidson told The West Australian there had been a noticeable increase in bank repossessions in the south-western first-homebuyer suburbs from Baldivis through to Rockingham.
According to data released by Moody’s Investor Services, about 3.8 per cent of homeowners in the Mandurah region had slipped 30 days or more behind on their mortgage repayments by June.
