Major Crash Investigators are seeking information regarding a serious crash on Old Coast Road overnight.
Just before 8.30pm last night South West Traffic officers in a marked traffic vehicle were traveling on Old Coast Road, Australind when they observed a motorcycle approaching them.
Police activated lights and siren and made u-turn with the intent to stop the motorcycle and speak to the rider when the clocked the rider speeding at over 90km/h in a 60 zone.
The pursuit was called off when the rider accelerated away from officers.
The police officers observed a dust cloud in the distance and then located the motorcycle crashed at the intersection of Old Coast Road and Paris Road, which is controlled by a roundabout.
Emergency first aid was provided to the rider until St John Ambulance personnel arrived and took over.
The rider, who is believed to be a man in his 40s, was taken to Bunbury Hospital with serious injuries and was later transferred to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC Rescue Helicopter.
