The Murray community have donated an incredible amount of food and supplies during the Anti-Poverty Week Community Food Drive between October 14 and November 1.

The Shire delivered the donations, which included pasta, canned food, honey, crackers, soap and toothpaste, to the Pinjarra Community Kitchen on November 5.

Shire of Murray President David Bolt said the donations will help feed people experiencing homelessness or severe financial hardship.

“The Murray community has once again rallied behind the Food Drive to help those doing it tough,” Councillor Bolt said.

“This year was bigger than ever before with plenty of contributions received. We have been told the volume of donations should help keep the Pinjarra Community Kitchen stocked for many months to come.

“Thank you to everyone who generously donated."

The food drive is an annual initiative run by the Shire of Murray.

Collection points were established at the Alcoa Binjareb Pinjarra, Alcoa Refinery Security Office, Austin Cove Baptist College, Dwellingup Primary School, Murray House Resource Centre, Murray Library, North Dandalup Primary School, Pinjarra Primary School, Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Pinjarra Senior High School, Shire of Murray Administration Office and St. Josephs Catholic Primary School.
