Mandurah’s northern community has been given a boost thanks to the new Lakelands Library and Community Centre and everyone is invited to the official opening celebrations.
The City of Mandurah said the celebrations will provide an opportunity for local residents to meet some of the staff and enjoy fun, creative activities available on the evening, including storytime, craft, Lego club, robotics, giant games, face painting and more.
Mayor Rhys Williams said the new Lakelands Library and Community Centre would bring huge benefits to the northern suburbs.
“We know how important learning and literacy is and the new Lakelands Library and Community Centre provides a much-needed space for our community to come together and learn, play, create, explore and imagine.
"This is a fantastic addition and a real asset to the fast-growing suburb of Lakelands and surrounding areas.
“The library will increase the surrounding community’s ability to enjoy a wide array of learning opportunities – something that is important for all of us.
"Our staff are proud to be able to deliver great outcomes within their community and can’t wait to show you what’s on offer at the new library.”
The new facility provides a place for the local community to learn and grow thanks to a range of services, hireable meeting rooms, spaces for children and families and modern access to PCs and wireless connection.
The community celebration will take place tomorrow between 4 and 7pm.
