A new crime statistics portal is allowing people to see in depth analysis of crimes in their city.
We've compared Mandurah and Rockingham's crime statistics and the results are in.
As a reminder here are some facts about crime around Mandurah, the first release of information using the new practices is for the July to September quarter.
In the 2015-16 reporting period crime spiked a high of 3852 crimes reported in the last five years.
This year overall crime dropped by 369 crime to 3213.
However, particular crimes were reported more often than previous years.
Assault against immediate family members rose by 9 reports to 209 from 2015-16, and graffiti peaked at 21 occurrences up from last year's 19.
But in some better news crimes like theft dropped by 318 cases to 1176 from 1494 and drug offences dropped by 40 reported crimes to 340.
November was reported the busiest month for crime with 312 of the 3213 crimes committed.

In comparison to neighbouring city Rockingham, Mandurah was just 5 offences shy of meeting them at 3218 reported crimes for the 2016-17 period.
Rockingham reported more breaches of violent restraining orders, 104 to Mandurah's 88.
But Mandurah saw family assault, 209 cases compared to Rockingham's 175.

The next quarter of figures will be released at the end of January.
