Motorists are being reminded to allow extra time to travel around Mandurah this Sunday afternoon when the old bridge will be blocked to traffic for a massive farewell party.
Pinjarra Road will be closed between the Mary Street roundabout and Sholl Street to allow residents to walk across the bridge for one last time.
The City of Mandurah community celebration will include live music, activities, memorabilia and plenty of photo opportunities.
Mayor Marina Vergone said the City is closing the bridge to allow the community to experience one last time what it's like to walk across the old Mandurah traffic bridge.
"I know a lot of people in the community are quite sentimental about the old bridge and it is sad to be seeing it go but of course with progress and the new bridge coming along we will be having to dismantle it very shortly.
"I encourage everyone to come along, walk across the bridge and enjoy the festivities along the eastern foreshore.
"Motorists are being urged to allow extra time to travel around Mandurah with traffic closures applying from 12:30 until about 5pm."
