The McGowan Government has committed funding of $5 million for an integrated health hub for at-risk youth in the Peel region.
The new Peel Youth Medical Services Health Hub is expected to be operational by January 2019.
The facility will provide mental health, homelessness, sexual health, counselling, and domestic violence assistance services to young people.
A grant agreement was put in place with GP Down South, the preferred proponent, on June 30.
The funds will be used to progress preliminary designs, site works and construction.
The Commonwealth Government and other stakeholders have also provided funding for this project.
Health and Mental Health Minister Roger Cook said as a Government, we recognise there is a significant need to improve the health and wellbeing of our future generations, especially at-risk youth.
"Adequate provision of these services is a key priority for the McGowan Government, and we have identified a shortfall in the availability of these services to youth in the Peel region.
"This facility will provide much-needed support services to the area and I look forward to the support and health benefits it will bring to our most at-risk youth."
